John Sisk & Son Ltd boosts candidate quality by 40% with Arctic Shores

John Sisk & Son Ltd, a leading Irish construction builder and contractor, faced significant challenges in its early careers hiring. The company's reliance on CV-sifting and situational judgement tests was not predictive of success, leading to a low 51% assessment centre pass rate, high 13% attrition, and poor diversity with only 15% female and 22% minority ethnic representation. To create a more equitable process and improve candidate quality, they partnered with vendor Arctic Shores.

Arctic Shores implemented its Task-based Assessment, a neuroscience-grounded psychometric tool that measures candidates' behaviours and cognitive abilities. This solution removed unconscious bias and provided more accurate insights. The results were substantial: the assessment centre pass rate increased to 91%, annual attrition was halved to 7%, and over 90 hours of manual screening were saved. Furthermore, diversity improved significantly, with female representation rising to 25% and minority ethnic/ESL representation increasing to 31% post-assessment. Arctic Shores delivered a more efficient, fair, and effective hiring process for Sisk.
