Wellnet Corporation Protecting business-critical data with secondary backup to Arcserve Hybrid Cloud

Wellnet Corporation is a Japan-based management consulting firm (53 employees) that runs government-authorised occupational health, safety and HR training nationwide. The COVID-19 pandemic forced courses online, increasing sensitive participant data and the need to preserve records for mandated certificates. Although Wellnet used Arcserve UDP for on‑premise backups with Azure as secondary, a new physical file server (Windows Server IoT 2019) was not supported by the existing cloud solution, putting secondary backup and certificate continuity at risk.

Otsuka Shokai recommended Arcserve Cloud Hybrid (Secured by Sophos) as the new secondary backup; it met Wellnet’s requirements for 30‑day retention, ease of use, low cost and rapid deployment. Secondary backups began in April 2021 with daily Arcserve UDP protection, automatic deduplication and replication of about 1 TB to the cloud. The change reduced costs (over 40%), restored confidence in disaster recovery and ransomware protection, and provided Virtual Standby/Instant VM capabilities to support business continuity.
