Thomas Higgins is a UK-based, Lexcel-accredited legal debt-collection firm of 25 employees that has been paper-free for decades and handles 90% of work via an online system and client app. When its legacy backup solution reached end of life and nightly jobs routinely ran into the next day, the firm needed a reliable, low‑maintenance backup and retention solution to ensure high availability, regulatory compliance and business continuity.

Thomas Higgins deployed two Arcserve Appliances (one at each site) with incremental backups that deduplicate 38 TB of raw data down to about 12 TB, plus an off‑site tape copy to meet long‑term retention requirements. Backups now complete in minutes, restores (including a one‑hour bare‑metal recovery) are far faster, and the IT team spends less time on backup administration while improving productivity, reducing risk and maintaining regulatory compliance.
