SEMIKRON, a global manufacturer of power semiconductors with about 2,900 employees and an international network of production sites, faced a complex, highly virtualized IT landscape (roughly 450 servers globally) where backup failures could halt production and disrupt deliveries. The company needed a standardized, reliable disaster-recovery and backup solution that would work across physical and virtual environments at all affiliates.

SEMIKRON rolled out Arcserve Backup (r16.x, with many sites upgraded to r16.5) across 18 affiliates to unify backup and recovery processes, backing up about 16 TB weekly and training local administrators to manage operations independently. The deployment improved recovery speed and data availability, streamlined administration, reduced backup failures, helped meet compliance requirements, and provided the business continuity and risk reduction SEMIKRON required.
