A Arcserve Case Study
SDIS 62, the Pas‑de‑Calais departmental fire, rescue and paramedic service serving 1.4 million people with some 5,100 staff, faced rapidly growing volumes of sensitive cold data — emergency call recordings, surveillance video and meeting archives — and stricter retention rules. To meet legal and GDPR-related requirements while ensuring fast recoverability and scalable capacity, the IT team needed a reliable, compliant cold‑storage solution that could withstand incidents and ransomware without disrupting critical public‑safety operations.
They deployed two Arcserve OneXafe 4412 appliances in separate computer rooms with two‑way replication, benefiting from continuous immutable snapshots (every 90 seconds), encryption, simple scale‑out expansion and DRaaS integration. The result is faster, more resilient data protection with a low TCO, quick deployment, guaranteed data integrity against attacks and plans to add a third offsite unit for extra redundancy.
