San Leon Energy relies on OneXafe and ShadowProtect to support their business strategy

San Leon Energy, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in Ireland with about 40 IT users, was overwhelmed by growing volumes of GIS and business data. Its aging Dell EqualLogic SANs and NAS-based backup workflow became slow and unreliable—replication frequently stalled, required time-consuming manual re‑synchronisation between sites, and consumed significant IT resources.

San Leon replaced its Windows file servers with two Arcserve OneXafe 4412 appliances (30 TB each) and deployed Arcserve ShadowProtect SPX for database and mail backups, while retaining Veeam for VM backups. The new solution delivered reliable snapshotting and replication, simplified AD permissions, rapid capacity scaling, immutable snapshots for ransomware protection, and a dramatic reduction in manual intervention—freeing the IT team and improving overall backup and recovery efficiency.
