North Hertfordshire Home Ensures Business Continuity with Cost-Effective and Efficient Data Recovery

North Hertfordshire Homes (NHH) is a not‑for‑profit housing association serving Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire that manages around 9,000 homes with 350 staff. Because core housing, repairs and finance systems are critical to day‑to‑day operations, NHH needed reliable, fast disaster recovery; its outsourced tape‑based approach was expensive, slow and prone to failed restores, so the organisation chose to bring recovery management in‑house to reduce risk and costs.

Building on eight years of arcserve Backup, NHH added arcserve D2D and Replication (and later r16.5 virtual standby) to create automated, agentless disk‑to‑disk backups with offsite replication and rapid virtual failover. The new solution recovers data in minutes (full servers in under an hour), cuts thousands of pounds in third‑party fees and travel, enables regular DR testing, and frees IT to focus on higher‑value work while ensuring business continuity.
