A Arcserve Case Study
North Devon Council, which serves about 95,000 residents and supports roughly 420 network users across council staff, volunteers and partners, needed a robust disaster-recovery plan to protect critical services such as benefits, planning, council tax and the electoral register. The ICT team faced risks from hardware failures, datacenter incidents and ransomware and required fast, reliable recovery to avoid service disruption and protect citizen wellbeing.
The council upgraded to two Arcserve 9000-series appliances with Arcserve Cloud and built‑in Sophos Intercept X, protecting ~100 servers and 50TB of data including Microsoft 365, planning systems and financial applications. Nightly incremental backups are replicated between appliances with critical data stored in the cloud and automated recovery testing; as a result the council can recover servers in hours, run services directly from the appliance if needed, rollback ransomware, simplify backup management and free ICT time for strategic work.
