New Mexico Department of Agriculture drops their backup window from 20 hours to 20 minutes or less

The New Mexico Department of Agriculture, a state producer-consumer service and regulatory agency, was struggling with nightly backups—1.4 TB to tape—with a backup window that had grown to about 20 hours.

By deploying two Arcserve UDP 7300v appliances (one on-premises and one 230 miles away), NMDA now protects 2.62 TB that deduplicates to about 716 GB and has cut the nightly backup window to 20 minutes or less. Data is kept on-site and replicated offsite for redundancy, supports both archive-to-tape and local file backups, and was deployed smoothly with responsive Arcserve support, leaving IT staff confident in recovery operations.
