Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust safeguards patient services and data

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT), which serves about 781,000 patients with 2,600 staff, provides specialist mental health and learning-disability services. As the trust modernised with new digital services (electronic patient records, Windows 10, Azure and Office 365), it needed a scalable, cost-effective way to protect growing volumes of clinical and operational data across both on‑premises and cloud platforms.

The trust expanded its Arcserve UDP deployment—now protecting around 20 TB across 20 physical and 70 virtual servers under a single site‑wide licence—using deduplication, flexible backup schedules and same‑day replication to a disaster recovery site. The solution enables granular restores (VMs, datasets, individual files), reduces storage and bandwidth impact, simplifies reporting, frees IT time for modernization projects, and safeguards the availability and continuity of patient data and services.
