How the Grimes County Sheriff's Office prevents hacking attacks with Arcserve OneXafe

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office in Texas faced a major data challenge after a 2018 Emotet malware attack infected 55 devices and a failing legacy storage system crashed, causing the loss of about a year’s worth of squad car and bodycam video evidence. The office needed a scalable, robust, and easy-to-integrate storage and protection solution that would prevent future data disasters and work with its WatchGuard video and evidence management systems.

They trialed and deployed Arcserve OneXafe, an object-based, scale-out storage platform with enterprise data protection that was quick to install and integrate (appliance configured in under an hour). OneXafe’s continuous data protection (immutable snapshots every 90 seconds), inline deduplication and compression (up to 5:1), and seamless WatchGuard compatibility have improved ransomware resilience, reduced storage requirements, and given the county confidence to extend the solution to other departments.
