Grey Matter is a UK-based software reseller and IT services company with about 100 employees that migrated its core systems to an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud platform. The move left it needing a compatible, cost-effective backup solution that worked without hypervisor access, minimised WAN bandwidth use, and ensured quick recovery to keep staff productive.

Grey Matter implemented Arcserve UDP v5 to protect 2.5 TB of critical data, using deduplication and compression before replicating backups over the WAN to an onsite recovery point server (with key systems also backed up to tape).
