A Arcserve Case Study
Flexible Metal Inc., a 300-employee manufacturer founded in 1954 that makes metal bellows, hoses and tubular assemblies, was hampered by slow, network‑taxing backups and unreliable disaster recovery with Veritas Backup Exec. The legacy solution required constant monitoring, delivered poor compression and inconsistent backups, and left a one‑person IT team stretched thin while replication windows stretched into days or weeks.
After evaluating several vendors, Flexible Metal implemented Arcserve Unified Data Protection (UDP) for its cost, compliance and technical flexibility. Arcserve eliminated the need for a SAN (saving about 85%), now protects 48 TB of data using under 4 TB of backup storage through strong deduplication and compression, reduced full-transfer times to three days and daily replication to under 30 minutes, and freed the IT manager to focus on higher‑value tasks.
