Compass Health Achieves Unified Virtual Data Protection with the Arcserve UDP Appliance

Compass Health is a growing multi-practice healthcare system in East Lansing, Michigan (about 40 doctors and 300 staff) that inherited a patchwork of IT infrastructures and legacy backup solutions after consolidation. The result was unreliable tape backups, inconsistent protection across clinics, time-consuming manual backup management and restores, and a mandate to move to a highly virtualized environment on a budget acceptable to individual practices.

Compass Health deployed the Arcserve UDP Appliance 7300V to unify and simplify virtual data protection. The appliance enabled granular recovery, deduplication and compression (shrinking the backup footprint from 18 TB to 5.4 TB), and fast, verifiable disaster recovery testing — reducing backup management to roughly 10–15% of the IT director’s time and giving the organization confidence in rapid restores across its datacenter and remote clinics.
