Celsa Steel Service Safeguards Production Continuity with Arcserve UDP

Celsa Steel Service AB and Celsa Steel Service A/S are the Swedish and Danish branches of the Celsa Group, manufacturing steel reinforcement products for the construction industry. Their highly automated production depends on always-available IT systems, but legacy backup setups—two different solutions, slow restores and limited WAN bandwidth—created complexity and risk to production continuity.

Working with partner Advania, they standardized on Arcserve UDP, using deduplication, compression, incremental backups, a tape library and the Virtual Standby feature to protect 1.5 TB across 35 virtual and five physical servers. Nightly (and some twice-daily) backups with 30 days on disk and tape archiving enabled fast recoveries—email restores fell from two days to five minutes and full production can be resumed in hours—while reducing IT workload, backup windows and overall risk.
