bela‑pharm GmbH & Co. KG is a family‑run veterinary pharmaceuticals company in Vechta, Germany (180 employees) that generates 10–15 TB of data daily from about 50 servers and must meet strict international regulatory and security requirements. By late 2020 its ageing backup systems were near capacity, recovery was slow and upgrade costs were prohibitive, so the IT team sought a modern, compliant and cost‑effective backup solution.

Working with partner Uzuner Systems, bela‑pharm deployed Arcserve OneXafe 4417 — a scale‑out, policy‑driven backup platform that was implemented in hours and required no extra training. Using a bring‑your‑own‑drive approach, deduplication and compression, the company achieved a 1:15 data reduction, expanded capacity up to 170 TB, cut backup storage costs and power/cooling needs, and gained rapid restore and immutable 90‑second snapshots for ransomware protection; the system has been in use since spring 2021 and met all expectations.
