A Arcserve Case Study
Ashfield District Council, which serves about 120,000 residents in England’s East Midlands, needed a more scalable, reliable and cost‑effective backup solution after its aging appliance reached capacity and backups became time‑consuming and unreliable. Facing public‑sector budget pressures, the council required a system that would protect core services and minimise manual IT effort while ensuring fast recovery.
By deploying Arcserve UDP the council now protects 10 TB across eight physical and roughly 50–60 virtual servers with deduplication and WAN replication to two sites. Backups are automated and monitored with minimal daily checks, files and servers can be restored in minutes, and the council has reduced operational costs, freed ICT resources, improved user productivity and strengthened business continuity.
