Ascentis is a UK non-profit that provides qualifications and learning support to schools, colleges and adult learners. To protect its reputation and ensure regulatory compliance with QAA and Ofqual, the organisation needed a more robust, fast disaster recovery and backup solution to prevent service outages from disrupting learners and operations.

Working with Fantastic Cloud Service, Ascentis deployed Arcserve UDP to deduplicate and back up 1.6 TB of data, replicate it overnight to the cloud, and enable rapid restores—cutting recovery from eight–nine hours to minutes. The solution reduced cloud storage from 2.8 TB to 1.6 TB (around a one-third cost saving), freed IT time (minutes per week on checks), ensured compliance and business continuity, and allowed quick failover and reliable testing of changes.
