Asahi Kasei Homes Becomes Disaster-Resistant by Speeding Up Backup and Establishing a Flexible Data Protection System

Asahi Kasei Homes, a major Japanese housing manufacturer known for Hebel Haus, faced growing backup challenges as its file data approached 100 TB across many branches. Weekly full tape backups were taking longer and risked missing windows, increasing the chance of data loss during failures or disasters as they migrated servers from older Windows versions.

They implemented Arcserve Unified Data Protection to speed backups while keeping tape workflows and enabling future replication. The new solution halved full backup time (now under four hours), cut daily incremental windows to less than an hour, simplified lifecycle and licensing alignment with hardware, sped migrations, and set the stage for remote replication to strengthen disaster recovery.
