Arrow Electronics, a global technology distributor with 2012 sales of $20.4 billion and more than 470 locations worldwide, needed a more scalable, cost-effective data protection solution for its U.K. enterprise computing solutions division. With data volumes growing and a managed-service contract up for renewal, the team required a backup approach that would work across new virtualized infrastructure and older physical servers to ensure business continuity and support future growth.

Arrow implemented Arcserve Backup and Arcserve D2D (with Central Protection Manager and Host-Based VM Backup) under Arcserve’s Managed Capacity licensing, protecting 10 TB of data across its Harrogate data centre (two SANs) and four remote sites. The deployment delivered faster, easier-to-manage backups and recoveries, predictable costs, regulatory compliance and the scalability and flexibility to support ongoing growth — plus the added benefit of being able to demonstrate the solution to customers.
