Case Study: Alingsås City Council achieves continuous database availability and simplified disaster recovery with Arcserve Replication & High Availability

A Arcserve Case Study

Preview of the Alingsås City Council Case Study

Alingsås City Council safeguards its critical data with Arcserve Replication & High Availability

Alingsås City Council, the local government for a Swedish municipality of about 40,000 residents with 4,000 staff, needed to modernize its critical Oracle databases but found the vendor high-availability upgrade too costly and complex. The council sought a cost-effective, easy-to-manage disaster recovery and high-availability solution that would reduce reliance on external specialists and ensure continuous access to essential services.

Working with partner Lodon Infrastructure, the council implemented Arcserve Replication & High Availability to protect 400 GB across six Oracle databases. The quick deployment delivers automated replication and failover (users can be reconnected within about 15 minutes), a familiar Windows-like interface that staff can manage themselves, reduced DR costs, simplified recovery processes, and minimized disruption — prompting consideration of a wider Arcserve UDP rollout.
