ComEd, an Exelon Company, needed a faster, more reliable way to manage crews during storms. Before working with ARCOS, the utility relied on an 11-step manual process using spreadsheets, whiteboards, email, and magnetic boards to track and build crews, which made it difficult to know crew availability in real time or quickly deploy supplemental support. This slowed storm response and created frustration for supervisors.
ARCOS implemented Crew Manager, a centralized solution that automates crew building and tracking across devices such as tablets, smartphones, and virtual boards. The system replaced the manual workflow with a four-step process, giving ComEd immediate visibility into who was on site and enabling real-time crew simulation and reorganization. According to ComEd, the efficiency of crew management improved tenfold, and the time to understand crew locations during storms dropped from as much as 4 hours to right away.
