Duke Energy, operator of the Crystal River Energy Complex, struggled with slow, inconsistent shift callouts across multiple plant groups. When unexpected absences, outages, or vacation fills occurred, supervisors could spend four to six hours tracking down replacement operators and maintenance craft employees, while callout process inconsistencies also led to bargaining unit grievances.
To address this, Duke Energy implemented ARCOS® Callout and Scheduling Suite, a cloud-based automated callout and shift-filling solution. ARCOS digitized the process, applied skills and contract rules, and created an auditable callout history; as a result, shift-filling time dropped to less than 30 minutes, overtime fairness grievances were eliminated, and the investment paid for itself in eight months through reduced supervisor labor.
