Plant Supervisors Refocus On Plant Operations Thanks To Automated Callout Solution

Duke Energy, operator of the Crystal River Energy Complex in Florida, needed a better way to handle employee callouts across multiple plants. Shift supervisors were spending four to six hours tracking down replacement workers for sick calls, forced outages, and vacation coverage, while inconsistent processes across seven groups led to overtime grievances and pulled supervisors away from plant operations. ARCOS helped address this challenge with its callout automation solution.

Duke Energy implemented the ARCOS® Callout and Scheduling Suite, a SaaS-based automated callout and scheduling system that lets supervisors launch callouts from anywhere, assign skill requirements, and generate priority lists based on the bargaining agreement. The solution cut supervisor callout time from up to six hours to less than 30 minutes, eliminated bargaining unit grievances over overtime fairness, and paid for itself in eight months through labor savings alone.
