Avista Corporation, a gas and electric utility, faced its largest storm event in 126 years when a November 2015 windstorm knocked out power for about 180,000 customers, damaged substations and transmission lines, and created an overwhelming volume of gas and electric emergencies. To manage the scale of the response, Avista turned to ARCOS and its automated call out solution to help locate, assemble, and assign crews and storm roles during the crisis.

With ARCOS, Avista was able to assign and archive storm roles for employees, track crew locations and hours in service, and better manage fatigue and compliance while restoring service. The solution helped Avista rapidly brief and deploy mutual aid crews, restore 90% of customers within seven days and the remaining 10% in two more days, and complete the response with no injuries to employees or contractors.
