The Deutsches Museum in Munich, one of the world’s leading science and technology museums, needed a simple way to back up its VMware ESXi environment. With 68 virtual machines across five hosts supporting everything from email and web services to administrative and financial systems, the museum needed a solution that could handle both critical and departmental workloads with minimal administrative effort. Archiware Pure was selected for its clean interface, ease of setup, and ability to manage VM backups centrally.

Archiware Pure was deployed as a VM appliance to protect the museum’s five ESXi hosts and 68 VMs, including 24 critical machines that require more frequent backups. The solution provided a single browser-based interface showing backup status, last run, and storage needs, while supporting both file-level and full-VM restores. According to the museum, Archiware Pure greatly reduced the time needed to manage backups and delivered the confidence of a solid, easy-to-maintain backup process.
