Metropolitan City of Venice migrates 44-municipality website to Drupal 9 with Archibuzz

The Metropolitan City of Venice, a complex territorial entity overseeing 44 municipalities, required an update to its extensive Drupal 7 portal which contained tens of thousands of contents. Their challenge was to migrate to Drupal 9 before the end of support for the older version, while also needing to redesign the user interface to comply with Italian Public Administration (AgID) standards and improve content accessibility for users. They engaged the vendor Archibuzz for Drupal website development and user interface design services.

Archibuzz undertook a complete reorganization of the site's information architecture and user paths to simplify navigation. Their team migrated all content from the old Drupal 7 site to the new Drupal 9 platform, readjusting it to the new AgID-compliant interface. The solution included rewriting URLs, implementing clear breadcrumbs, and integrating with the city's LDAP server for staff access. As a result, Archibuzz delivered a modern, intuitive, and standards-compliant website for the institution.
