University of Missouri - Columbia: Determines Space Needs with ARCHIBUS

The University of Missouri–Columbia manages a vast portfolio—1,135 buildings and over 15 million gross square feet—across its main campus, hospitals and experiment stations. Facilities staff struggled with disconnected floor plans and space-inventory databases, time-consuming manual reporting, and the need to accurately calculate space-based reimbursements such as Indirect Cost Recovery and Medicaid/Medicare support.

By integrating AutoCAD floor plans and the space inventory in ARCHIBUS, MU created a centralized CAFM system with more than 2,000 floor plans and 50,000 room records, web-enabled access, and formula-driven space projections. The solution sped reporting, saved roughly ten staff hours per week, streamlined annual space surveys, improved recovery of external research and health-service costs, and increased overall facilities-management productivity.
