UBS Meets Challenges of Merger and Global Data Access with ARCHIBUS

UBS, a global leader in wealth management and investment banking, faced major facilities-management challenges after its 2000 merger with Paine Webber: five separate ARCHIBUS databases, inconsistent allocation and occupancy methods, and fragmented reporting that threatened timely financial chargebacks and space planning. The company needed standardization, consolidated data access, and integration with HR and directory systems to support multi-level reporting and global operations.

UBS worked with Robotech to customize ARCHIBUS—standardizing AutoCAD floor plans, implementing enhanced occupancy procedures, building a Web stacking visualization tool, and integrating with LDAP/PeopleSoft—then consolidated databases using Virtual Private Database capabilities and prepared for ARCHIBUS Web Central. The result was timely, accurate allocations and unified global reporting, streamlined space and financial data, improved planning and vacancy control, and millions of dollars saved in rent.
