Massachusetts Medical Consortium Improves Administrative Operations and A-21 Reporting with ARCHIBUS

The University of Massachusetts Medical School and its clinical partner UMass Memorial Health Care operate 13 campuses with about 8 million sq ft across 146 buildings and faced the challenge of consolidating space, lease, move and mapping administration that had relied on paper surveys, disparate CAD maps and manual processes. They needed a single, centralized platform to unify space inventory, lease administration and campus GIS to support reporting (including A-21) and more efficient operations.

The organizations implemented ARCHIBUS integrated with ESRI ArcGIS and PeopleSoft to create an online geospatial portal, deploy an online space inventory survey, and centralize lease and move management. The solution automated data collection, halved survey time, reduced administrative hours and operational costs by thousands of dollars, improved A-21 and space-productivity reporting, and provided a single repository for better analysis and campus mapping with plans to extend to BIM and virtual tours.
