Efficient Reporting on Demand at Housing and Urban Development

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which manages about 1 million square feet at headquarters plus more than 80 field offices, faced fragmented paper and spreadsheet processes, a high churn of moves/adds/changes and the need to meet stringent GSA reporting requirements across roughly 120 leases and extensive equipment inventories.

HUD implemented an ARCHIBUS-powered FIRMS (Space, Real Property & Lease, Furniture & Equipment) with an AOS Web Overlay, barcode scanning and HR integration to centralize data and automate imports from GSA. The system produces fast, accurate reports (including Exhibit 54 in minutes), supports lifecycle asset tracking, streamlines moves and inventory tasks for ~150 users at 100+ sites, simplifies donations reporting and reduces administrative effort; HUD plans to add Telecommunications and Building Operations next.
