Case Study: Caterpillar achieves faster emergency response and improved occupancy accuracy with ARCHIBUS

A ARCHIBUS Case Study

Preview of the Caterpillar Case Study

Caterpillar Fosters Worker Safety, Improves Occupancy Accuracy, with E911 System Using ARCHIBUS

Caterpillar, the world’s largest maker of construction and mining equipment, launched a multi-year, multi-location initiative to implement an Enhanced 911 (E911) system at its facilities in Peoria and beyond while also improving real-time occupancy data. The company needed a solution that met federal and state E911 requirements, sped emergency response, and kept personnel and space information current across millions of square feet and dozens of buildings.

Caterpillar integrated ARCHIBUS with Cisco VOIP (including Emergency Responder and Call Manager), AutoCAD overlays, and personnel data from its Global Directory/PeopleSoft, with nightly updates to keep location and occupancy information current. The system now provides graphical call-location data to security and first responders, improves occupancy accuracy for space allocation, accelerates emergency response, and is being scaled to many more properties to meet compliance and safety goals.
