Australia's Curtin University Innovation Tracks Landscape Assets and Capital Projects with ARCHIBUS

Curtin University, Western Australia’s largest university, manages 341 buildings across more than 120 hectares and faced the challenge of maintaining extensive landscaped grounds, coordinating unscheduled grounds and security maintenance, and administering major capital and refurbishment projects while eliminating manual processes for space and project management.

Curtin implemented ARCHIBUS—creating a CAD/location-based inventory of trees, shrubs and lawns linked to On Demand Work and Preventive Maintenance, plus Web-based Project Management, AutoCAD/Revit integration and other modules—to automate work orders, schedule routine upkeep, give contractors controlled access, and centralize project data. The result was reduced administrative load, operational cost savings, improved reporting and streamlined facilities, landscape and security maintenance, with plans to add mobile devices and GIS capabilities.
