Case Study: Unum achieves $7M in avoided real estate costs and $350K annual savings with ARCHIBUS

A ARCHIBUS Case Study

Preview of the Unum Case Study

#1 Disability Insurance Provider Avoids $7 Million in Real Estate Costs, Saves $350K Annually in Improved Workflows with ARCHIBUS

Unum, the Chattanooga-based leader in disability insurance with about 10,000 employees and more than 3,000,000 square feet of office space across the U.S., UK and Ireland, struggled with fragmented, manual facilities management. Relying on Excel spreadsheets left the company unable to quantify its space portfolio, automate rent allocation and tracking, or enforce common standards and auditability for maintenance work requests.

Unum implemented a web-based ARCHIBUS solution (Real Property & Lease, Space, Building Operations and Furniture & Equipment), standardizing data and automating workflows in about four months. The consolidation eliminated legacy systems, improved reporting and processes, and delivered an $7M avoidance in real estate costs, $350K in annual savings, an increase in space utilization from 72% to 85% and a 50% reduction in churn, with further gains pursued through telework.
