Volvo Streamlines Purchasing from Key Supplier

Volvo needed to streamline and secure EDI-based purchasing with a key supplier to keep pace with rapid growth. The Swedish automaker required an EDIFACT-compliant integration that would filter and map purchasing information, directly import/export EDI files to databases, generate labels, and securely transmit files using OFTP/SFTP. To meet these requirements Volvo and its supplier chose ArcESB to provide the EDI software and secure file transfer capabilities.

ArcESB implemented a solution using its OFTP, Script, EDIFACT and SQL Server connectors to automate DELFOR/INVOIC/DESADV flows, convert database records to EDI, generate JPG labels, and transmit messages securely (OFTP/SFTP with encryption, signatures and compression; Odette-certified OFTP). The automated docking eliminated manual data-entry errors, reduced processing time and costs, and enabled direct ERP integration and secondary development for the supplier — allowing Volvo and its supplier to achieve seamless, reliable EDI integration.
