Schaeffler Streamlines Auto Supply with ArcESB AS2

Schaeffler Group, one of the world’s largest family-owned automotive parts manufacturers (about $16.1B in sales in 2017 and 92,000+ employees across 170 locations), needed to automate purchasing and supply-chain interactions with a major land-transportation partner. Facing different ERP systems, disparate message structures, and the need to eliminate manual data entry and reduce errors and costs, Schaeffler Group selected ArcESB and its ArcESB AS2 capabilities to support secure, standards-based EDI transmissions (EDIFACT) between partners.

ArcESB implemented a certified AS2 middleware solution that parses incoming EDI into XML for ERP consumption and auto-generates EDI (IFTMIN/IFTSTA) from XML, with secure features like S/MIME, digital certificates, and MDN receipts. The integration—automatable in under a minute—eliminated manual data entry, ensured one-to-one EDI mapping to Schaeffler Group’s specifications, improved logistics efficiency, and provided a repeatable, secure process that reduces errors and lowers operational costs. ArcESB’s solution enabled seamless, reliable EDI exchanges between Schaeffler Group and its logistics partner.
