ArcESB™ Helps Apple Move Thousands of Parts Across the Supply Chain

Apple, one of the world’s largest companies, needed to integrate a core micro-component supplier’s SAP ERP with its B2B EDI system to manage purchase orders, shipment notices and invoices for thousands of parts across its supply chain. To meet Apple’s requirement for direct, secure messaging and standard EDI processing, the vendor ArcESB was selected, using its AS2 Connector, ANSI X12 Connector and iDoc Connector to bridge the supplier’s SAP system with Apple’s EDI environment.

ArcESB implemented secure AS2 file transfer, ANSI X12 message transformation (850, 856, 810, 846, etc.) and direct iDoc-based ERP integration so changes in the supplier’s SAP automatically generated correctly formatted EDI documents to Apple. The ArcESB solution enabled rapid on‑ramp and direct messaging (eliminating VAN fees), was delivered on time and under budget, and produced continuous cost savings while securely streamlining Apple’s ordering and fulfillment processes.
