Iron Mountain, a global leader in storage and information management services, wanted to reduce emissions and source renewable energy across both data center and non-data center facilities. Working with Arcadia’s RPD Energy procurement advisory service, the company needed a way to match its electricity use with renewable generation on an hourly basis across multiple grid regions while keeping costs stable and avoiding the long-term risks of traditional PPAs.

Arcadia, through RPD Energy, designed and executed a complex procurement strategy that sourced physical renewable power and bundled RECs from multiple generators to align with Iron Mountain’s hourly demand. The solution delivered 24/7 carbon-free energy tracking, operational flexibility, and price certainty, and in the first full year Iron Mountain achieved more than 96% average renewable energy coverage across all ISOs, with about 94% in PJM, its highest-demand region.
