How ford helps its EV drivers avoid peak prices when charging at home

Ford worked with Arcadia to improve the at-home charging experience for its electric vehicle drivers. As EV adoption grew, Ford needed a better way to answer common charging questions like when it is cheapest to charge at home, but its existing electricity tariff database was hard to maintain and not comprehensive enough. To support new features for EV owners, Ford turned to Arcadia’s Signal API for more complete utility rate data.

Arcadia’s Signal API replaced Ford’s internal database with access to a comprehensive utility price database covering more than 2,000 utilities and 16,000 rate plans across North America. The solution includes detailed tariff rules, rate components, and hourly retail pricing updates, enabling Ford to build charging features that help drivers save money by charging at the most cost-efficient times. Arcadia says EV owners can save 25–30% on electricity by switching to the best rate plan and optimizing home charging.
