GIE Insurance Group uses ARCAD Tools directly from Eclipse

GIE Insurance Group, which maintains applications for the DOM/TOM regions, faced obsolete, homegrown version-management and deployment tools for RPG/IBM i that did not support modern DB2, SQL, ILE or N‑tier components and lacked adequate configuration management. To modernize, GIE implemented ARCAD Software solutions including ARCAD–Open Repository, ARCAD-Observer, ARCAD-Skipper and the ARCAD plug-ins (Changer and Changer Client) plus the ARCAD Eclipse plug‑in to access ARCAD tools directly from workstations.

ARCAD Software replaced the in‑house system with a GUI and multi‑platform management that integrates IBM i and J2EE components; the 7‑month deployment for 35 users was completed in a single switchover with only minor adjustments. The new ARCAD solution made deliveries “completely reliable,” enabled full application documentation and cross‑reference analysis, improved configuration and testing-site management, and reduced ongoing effort (annual upgrades are now manageable and two admins can be up to speed in about half a day), with the option to outsource support to ARCAD.
