GEODIS capitalizes on custom code and resolves IBM i skill shortage, modernizing applications automatically with ARCAD MaaS

GEODIS, a global leader in transport and logistics, faced a critical challenge modernizing its in‑house ALTESSE WMS on IBM i while preserving 20 years of custom code and addressing an IBM i skills shortage. To avoid risky migration and ensure automated, consistent conversions of code, database and UI while adopting DevOps, GEODIS selected ARCAD Software’s Modernization as a Service (MaaS) offering in late 2016.

ARCAD Software delivered an end‑to‑end MaaS program using ARCAD‑Transformer (RPG and DB), ARCAD for DevOps with ARCAD‑Verifier test automation, and Profound UI, converting 7,700 programs, 5,500 screens and 1,900 tables (31 million lines) in about six months. The project produced Free Form RPG, SQL and web UI, enabled continuous regression testing, faster onboarding and better DB performance, and resolved the maintenance skills risk—future‑proofing GEODIS’s core application and improving user experience.
