Large Multinational Company faced repeated data migration challenges after frequent M&A: its inventory system ran on Oracle/UNIX while acquired firms used IBM mainframes, leading to complex cross-platform conversions, late-discovered data quality issues, project overruns and added third‑party costs. To address this, the company turned to Arbutus Software, using Arbutus Analyzer (and Arbutus Migrate) to gain direct access to mainframe data and manage conversions in‑house.

Arbutus Software’s Analyzer was used to stage and analyze source data, automatically convert COBOL copybooks with the Data Definition Wizard (metadata for 25 source files was defined on day one), and create automated conversion procedures. The result was faster, earlier and more comprehensive data quality testing, fewer delays, projects finished on schedule and migration work completed at a fraction of prior cost.
