Using Aras for Architectural and Building Information

The University of Washington serves more than 40,000 students, faculty and staff across three campuses with over 12 million square feet of facilities. Balancing new construction and ongoing maintenance — plus the need for rapid, secure access to architectural, HVAC, electrical and utilities drawings for productivity and emergency response — created a demand for an enterprise solution to manage vast amounts of files and configuration data.

UW deployed Aras Innovator, a web-based SOA platform on Microsoft, to centralize and secure facilities information with browser and tablet access. The system now manages over 6 TB of data, improved availability and manageability, cut printing and labor costs by more than $100,000 per year, and simplified access and control for campus construction and maintenance projects.
