Open Source PLM Comes Through Loud and Clear at MiTek

MiTek Corporation, a family-owned leader in high-performance audio with 13 specialized brands sold in more than 80 countries, faced fragmented R&D: mechanical, electrical and acoustical teams operated independently with paper-based, ad‑hoc processes and no cross-functional visibility or centralized project tracking. Management launched an initiative to unify and automate R&D to balance workloads, improve compliance and gain real-time insight across groups.

MiTek implemented the Aras enterprise open source PLM—downloading, customizing and integrating it with their ERP—and trained staff to use community modules like Quality and ECO. The rollout now covers two‑thirds of employees and over 70,000 parts, providing real‑time project visibility, single-entry data flow, stronger ISO compliance, better resource planning and faster time to market; MiTek plans to extend Aras for time tracking, CAD integration, change automation and help desk workflows.
