NuScale centralizes 60,000+ nuclear requirements with Aras

NuScale Power, a company designing a small modular nuclear reactor, faced the challenge of managing over 60,000 stringent safety, regulatory, and quality requirements using inefficient, document-based systems. These decentralized processes made it difficult to trace requirements and link information to the physical design. To modernize its approach, NuScale partnered with vendor Aras Corporation to implement its Aras Innovator PLM solution.

The Aras solution provided a central digital thread backbone, replacing multiple disparate systems with a single source of data. This enabled NuScale to easily trace requirements down to the part level, automate paper-based procedures, and provide customers with a Digital Twin at handover. Aras's flexible platform also resulted in a lower long-term cost of ownership, eliminating historical upgrade fees of approximately $100,000 per upgrade.
