PrivacyPerfect is a SaaS product that helps organizations meet GDPR bookkeeping obligations (data protection impact assessments, processing activities, breach tracking) and had more than 450 customers by mid‑2019. As their customer base grew, the original event‑sourcing architecture became overly complex and slowed development, so the team sought an open‑source, scalable, multi‑tenant database that fits highly connected business data and ultimately chose ArangoDB.

PrivacyPerfect re‑implemented its backend data as a graph in ArangoDB, using document and edge collections, AQL queries, and a Kubernetes primary/replica deployment to ensure performance and scalability. By adopting ArangoDB the company greatly simplified its architecture, made queries that traverse thousands of privacy records fast and maintainable, sped up feature development, and unlocked new capabilities (workflows, richer visualizations) to better meet customer demand.
