Impressive speed of ArangoDB-based Webshop & Product Information Management (PIM) System for 1 Million Products

Key2Publish was hired to build a webshop and Product Information Management (PIM) system for ITK diagnostics, managing complex product data and generating PDF product sheets and feeds. Faced with an existing catalog of ~200,000 SKUs (each with ~100 attributes) and plans to scale to 1,000,000 products, Key2Publish needed a fast, scalable, open-source solution with flexible schema, graph/relational capabilities, JSON/REST API support and cross-platform availability — requirements that led them to choose ArangoDB (multi-model NoSQL database, AQL and ArangoSearch).

Key2Publish implemented ArangoDB to store documents and model relational elements with its native graph features, using ArangoSearch/VIEW for ultra-fast full-text and autocomplete. ArangoDB delivers millisecond search results (sub-20 ms for time-critical recommendations), handles datasets exceeding 100 GB and hundreds of millions of nodes, and keeps the webshop and PIM running smoothly as the catalog grows toward 1M products. ArangoDB’s multi-model design, AQL querying and strong support/documentation reduced complex JOIN overhead and provided the speed and flexibility Key2Publish needed.
