Case Study: Kaseware achieves rapid, stable multi-model investigative case management with ArangoDB

A ArangoDB Case Study

Preview of the Kaseware Case Study

FBI-grade case management for the larger investigative community

Kaseware, an investigative case management system built by former FBI agents, needed to store diverse case data — documents, locations, witnesses, suspects, digital forensics — while keeping a simple, highly stable stack for 24x7 emergency-service use. To avoid deploying separate systems for documents, key-value lookups and graphs, Kaseware chose ArangoDB and its multi-model database to meet those requirements.

ArangoDB was implemented to handle JSON document collections for reports, key-value lookups for UI elements, and graph edges to connect people, places and evidence (currently 500,000+ edges and growing); Kaseware also uses ArangoDB Enterprise security features such as encryption at rest. The result: a proof of concept in under a day, faster time-to-production, reduced maintenance and a streamlined codebase, plus “rock‑solid” stability in production and a clear upgrade path to clustered/Kubernetes deployments using ArangoDB.
