Case Study: AGInnovaTech reduces spray use and improves crop protection with Arable

A Arable Case Study

Finding the Crop Protection Sweet Spot

AGInnovaTech, the consulting arm of AgroInnova in Costa Rica, helps growers of bananas, pineapples, sugarcane, coffee, and other specialty crops make crop protection decisions in a highly regulated, climate-volatile environment. To reduce overspraying, maintain export quality, and build customer trust, the team needed accurate infield data to better time sprays and respond to changing disease risk. They used Arable’s Mark devices and Arable app to collect real-time weather and crop health data.

Arable deployed 30 Mark 2 devices across Costa Rica, giving AGInnovaTech field-level visibility into precipitation, humidity, wind, leaf wetness, NDVI, chlorophyll, and growth stages. With Arable, AGInnovaTech identified better spray windows, detected cold snaps in pineapple fields, and ran crop trials such as a dolomite lime vs. calcium carbonate comparison that showed 5.5% higher chlorophyll content after five weeks. Meneses estimates Arable’s data has helped reduce spray use by 10–15% in bananas, lowering costs and environmental impact while improving recommendations for growers.
