Luxelare Digital Agrisurance, a digital insurance and crop monitoring provider in Sinaloa, Mexico, worked with potato grower Roberto Garza in Coahuila after an unusually early series of catastrophic frosts damaged about half of his 100-acre field. The grower needed reliable infield weather evidence to support an insurance claim, since satellite imagery and manual records were not convincing enough and gridded forecasts were too inaccurate for the conditions.

Arable’s infield sensing platform provided hourly temperature, irrigation, and NDVI data that precisely documented the freeze duration and resulting crop dieback. With Arable’s evidence, Roberto received the maximum insurance payout of about MEX$4,500,000 (US$210,000), which he estimates was 20–30% more than he would have gotten otherwise. The success led him to increase his Arable deployment from four devices to six for ongoing water and nutrient management.
